Every summer Barcelona puts on a spectacular performing arts festival showcasing music, dance and theater. Although flamenco is a largely southern Spanish art and is not usually associated with Barcelona culture, there is a surprising amount of flamenco going on here. The annual Barcelona Flamenco Festival brings together regional and national artists for performances, lectures and workshops in Cituat Vella, the "Old City."
